Flow classes will give students an opportunity to advance their athleticism and ramp up their practice. Some prior yoga experience helpful but not necessary. Come prepared to sweat! This class will move a bit faster than our slow flow classes and give students an opportunity to flow longer and with more room to flow on their own. We will do breathwork, work the core, and warm the spine, followed by a few sun salutations to warm up. Then we will move through a longer flow to build up heat and strengthen our attention. Finally, we will warm down and do some grounding poses to release tension. Wear comfortable clothes you can easily stretch and move in. Please bring a water bottle. Yoga mats and props are available to borrow.

Yin yoga is a quiet contemplative practice, done seated or lying down on the mat. We work with passive, longer-held poses, targeting the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. This is contrast to a Yang yoga practice such as Slow Flow which heats up and targets the muscles. There are 3 principles to Yin: First we find our edge where any more would be too much, and any less wouldn't be enough. Second we settle in and try to hold still. Third we take time in the poses. Yin increases energy flow throughout the body, even to the organs. It also offers wonderful emotional and mental health benefits. It offers space for the student to center and quiet the mind. Some of our Yin classes will include a guided meditation to help students get deeper into their practice. Wear comfortable clothes you can easily stretch and move in.
